We will arrive in the Colonial Zone : visit by foot of the Alcazar de Colomb, the Santa Maria Cathedral with Christopher Columbus’s tomb, the National Pantheon, the alleys lined with colonial style houses .

Around 13 :00lunch at the Conuco : Dominican atmosphere and cooking – a must.  The word Conuco is translated as « farm ».  This establishment, brightly coloured and decorated with a multitude of objects, fruit, vegetables, coffee …. A good reminder of life on the farm.  The waiters are entertaining as they pass between tables, dancing and singing the Merengue !  Grand Dominican buffet .

After lunch departure for the « Modelo » market, we will firstly discover the poultry, vegetable and spice sellers….  For those hooked on shopping, the covered market with its stalls will offer : Dominican and Haitien craftwork, rum, cigars, simplistc paintings.  Don’t hesitate to bargain….

One hour’s free time in the market.
